Hi,
I have an issue on my '16 R-Design V60, where the bumper is being marked by contact with the lower lip of the boot lid...
When the boot lid is shut, there is a gap underneath between it and and bumper as you would expect, but there is clear rubbing through the paint in a line on the bumper and the paint is rubbed on the lip of boot lid so they are clearly making contact at some point?
Any suggestions?

Taking the V70 for an mot tmrw. Hasn't seem much use since last one 3000 miles or so as had an xc90 but that was written off in August and tried to get a newer one from Volvo but that was given back as it had problems that where not rectified after delivery.
Anyway we shall see how we go tmrw......

Bit of a lightener, ignore if too inconsequential.
What is it with spiders living in the door mirrors? How do they get in there? What do they eat? Every morning there are new cobwebs between the mirror and the door both sides on both doors.
A long run on a motorway (obviously only at the mandatory speed DSK) doesn't seem to bother them at all.
Is there a humane way of getting the little fellas out? Doesn't bother me really, just intrigued.

My XC60 D5 Engine failed just after a service & MOT ( Not at a main dealer )
The only job that was carried out apart from the normal fluid changes was a replacement alternator belt.
4 valves broken and now a replacement cylinder head required.
Is it just a very unfortunate coincidence or could the be linked.
2010 and only 52000 miles.
any comments appreciated

Hi,
Just stumbled across an article re the car tax changes that came into affect from April 1st this year. In particular the new rules relating to new cars that cost £40,000+. From my understanding if the list/retail price of your new car including any extras exceeds £40k, in years 2-6 (5 years) you'll be paying a further £310 on top of the £140 annual tax for a diesel motor. So £450 a year for those 5 years 😳
Have other folk noticed this change already? I have just ordered a new XC60 and while the list price was just under the limit, I did add £1,200 of extras so have breached the limit. My dealer is going to check and confirm for me but little I can do now.
Cheers
Craig

I am considering having the Polestar upgrade to my new XC60 D5. I need advice as the price is £850 and I have not, as yet, spoken to anyone who has had it fitted and considers it worth the money, Would love a private message from someone who knows what they are talking about or put a reply on my post. I am not looking for any savings in mpg would just like the extra performance if it is worth it for an extra 10 hp. I do have to admit that this is my first oil burner and I am very impressed my previous XC60 was a 2011 T5.

Due to selling our XC70 I am selling my imiv ipod integration module and data and power cables. This is in full perfect working order (see image; there is a slight cut in the ipod wire sheath - see arrow - but it all works perfectly). Full details on the module can be found at:
http://www.imiv.ca/cms/products/prod...x_commerce_pi1[mDepth]=1&tx_commerce_pi1[path]=19
The unit is for DVD RTI-prepped volvos only - for compatibility check out FAQs on the imiv website.
It allows full functionality over your iPod Classic video + music, with video viewed on the RTI screen.
The price is £100 (ono) including delivery to the UK.
Cheers,
Dean

Hello all
Firstly can I just say how helpful this forum is, it's a one stop shop for everything Volvo!!
My husband left the lights on my 2008 v50 all last night, and the battery is dead. Central locking is therefore not working. I have tried the blade key and it just won't budge...mechanic has also come out and can't get it open.
Any ideas?!! Am I turning the key wrong, or is it because the car is deadlocked??
Any advice much appreciated!!

Hi there,
I just wondered if anybody could help me figure out whether there is something wrong with my cruise control, or if it's just a design flaw of the car!
It seems to work just fine along a flat motorway, holds 70 mph perfectly. The issue is when you resume a cruise speed after needing to slow down.
If I hit pause because I'm approaching a slower car but can't move out into the next lane, when I hit resume the car accelerates up to 70, but then as if it's reactions are too slow, goes past 70 onto 73-74. It the realises and lets completely off the throttle and the car slows to 67-68. It keeps overshooting itself 5 or 6 times before finally settling down.
This makes the feature totally useless as you'd get in the way of other drivers, plus it's not very comfortable for passengers as you can feel the changes in throttle very clearly.
This isn't a massive issue, other than it also seems to be too slow to react when hitting a hill on the motorway and will bounce around again.
Is this normal for S40's? Is the system too dumb to take into account the turbo lag, and so constantly gets minor speed changes wrong?

Hello,
I've just joined the forum and having read good reviews of the V90 took delivery of one in July this year, a D4 Momentum.
However, there is a major interference problem with the car that manifests itself as a loud white noise coupled with distortion of whatever source is playing through the entertainment system.
So far the car has been off the road for 4 weeks now with no resolution in sight. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue?
The interference is only present when the volume is turned up. When muted, there is no interference. Interference occurs when playing radio, music, or on the phone.
Dealer has replaced from a donor car:
- Engine ECU
- IHU Unit ?
- AHD Unit ?
- Alternator
- Starter motor
- Pin tested all connections for above
The last unit to replace is the head unit (a big dashboard out job) which they're on with at the moment.
I've also noticed that some of the other systems on the car are slow to respond:
- Rear parking sensors slow to engage/update. I have hit 2 walls already
- Indicators sometimes do not flash at a constant rate
- Front collision sensor failed at low speed when trialling and hit a fortunately movable object
This makes me suspect if there is a delay somewhere or noise on the system which is slowing the car (is it CANBUS? or Ethernet?) network down, affecting other systems.
I'll give the dealer another two weeks to fix the car and update with how I've got on. In the meantime if anyone else has had the same fault I'd be interested to know - this may help my case with the dealer and Volvo. Thanks for reading.
Mark.

Hi all.
Picking up my XC90 very soon (pre-handover arranged for Saturday) and have noticed that Volvo have a couple of offers at the moment. They are
1) Polestar Performance Optimisation £200 discount i.e. £635 instead of £835. What is the forum's opinion on Polestar? Seems a bit cheeky to me that Volvo sell the car not fully optimised but that's life I suppose. There is also mention of a 14 day free trial - how would that work?!
2) Load Compartment Mats £30 discount
Reversible/Foldable Mat with bumper cover Now £110 (£30 off)
XC90 2016 > Charcoal or blond
Would you recommend the Volvo Cargo mat? I am already spending a lot of money on the car and am wondering if another £750 on top is worth it?
All feedback most welcome.

Can you advise if the diagnostic socket in a 52 plate V70 is OBD I, or OBD II, please?

Hi all,
I'm hoping someone may recognise the symptoms I'm having with my 1997 V70 TDI, as a search of Volvo and VW forums hasn't brought up much.
It's done 233k miles, I bought it in May from a forum member with 227k miles, and this intermittent hesitation was mentioned by the seller. It hasn't got any worse in 6000 miles, and on a trip to London and back the week after I bought it, the car managed to crack 60mpg (showing 67mpg on dash - bang on 60 at the pumps) over 600 miles of gentle driving.
Vol-FCR I'm told hasn't shown any causes. The exhaust is quite continuously smoky under any load, but from experience I know that they do tend to be smoky. I'm reluctant to touch the pump timing in case I either lose the economy it gets now, or make it worse!
When cruising it may just give a single miss, it has done it once on a cold start and really struggled to keep running for a few seconds, and occasionally does it pulling away from junctions.
I fitted a new fuel filter at the weekend in the hope that it may be involved, but it has made no difference and the Volvo one fitted looked like new.
I know next to nothing about the fuel systems on these, or if it could be electrical, so I'm open to any suggestions! It did come with a spare injector pump, that is untested...
Stephen

Hello everyone!
I have been searching for a while ,and just can't get my alloy wheels identified, and being able to order the same set.
Is there anyone can give me a heads up where i could find the alloys on that car i have attached?!
All i know is factory sport alloys on Volvo s40 2011 R design 2.0 T5 FWD
Also seen it on the 2009 C30 R design
18' inch on both.
Please help, looking for this for weeks now, and just can't find any info.
Have nice day everyone!

Hi, In May I purchased a recon steering rack from the uk. Mechanic fitted it and all was fine for a week or so until the steering became heavy. The fluid level had dropped to minimum so topped-up. This has continued approx. every 100 miles.
I left a thread on here asking where the fluid could be going. I placed a clean
sheet of cardboard under the rack after a long run and 24 hours later not a drop of fluid.
Byootox suggested that the ram seal could be allowing the fluid to pass into the bellows. Due to the logistics of claiming under the warranty I want to remove the bellows to see if it has filled with fluid but am concerned not to do anything that is visible and which will invalidate the warranty. Can the bellows be removed easily or are special tools needed. Thanks jack
