My 740 has the B230k engine (carb) and is always difficult to start first thing in the morning or when it's cold. It's almost as if the auto choke doesn't work. She won't tick over on her own until she is warmed up. Recently had new spark plugs but made no difference. Thanks for any help with this.

ABS problems...
Hey folks,
Had the usual ABS warning light for a bit on and off and now it's fully on. Did a check of fuses then moved to the next logical step - the control unit. Assuming that it was dry terminals, I swapped it out for a known good unit but still I have a warning light. Code reader doesn't register an error code either.
First question - are the control units (ate 733 prefix unit) matched to the abs pump? I split the one I got and just pulled the control unit instead of disconnecting brake lines and swapping the whole abs pump assembly?
Second question - assuming I was right to just swap the control unit - what is likely the next cause of the ABS light? Will it be rings or sensors on the wheels? If so - how hard are they to change?
Thanks
Jon

Buying a C70 2.0T
Having sold my S40 2.0T to my son, to make way for a company car, I find that I now have the S40 back again as my son found it too expensive for his student pockets on fuel!
My plan is to move on the S40 once again and look for a C70 2.0T
I couldnt see a buyers guide for the non T5 models and wondered what I should look out for
Thanks in advance

V40 intermittent throttle problems.
Hi all,
First post here so please be patient.
So I have a 2002 1.9 td v40 with 190000 miles on the clock. Ive had the car over two years now with no problems at all. I keep it well maintained and since buying the car I've replaced the timing belt, clutch and dual mass flywheel all engine mounts and a new turbo (reconditioned).
I took the car off the road in January and it hasnt been started since then. Yesterday when I started it for the first time it seems to have developed an intermittent throttle issue. When driving, regardless of speed or revs, the throttle becomes completely unresponsive and the car will not accelerate. When the this happen if I press the clutch the revs hover around 1100-1200 and do not fluctuates. Sometimes the car will come back to life but this is becoming less frequent. Most of the time I have to switch the engine off to get the throttle to work again.
When the car was parked up it was very low on diesel. So yesterday before I noticed any issues I filled the tank and put 500ml of dipetane fuel additive into the tank. I have driven approximately 50 miles.
So based on the above do you think my problem lies with the fueling system or is it more likely to be an electronic problem In the throttle? I suppose it's also worth mentioning that there is no warning lights on the dash.
Thanks,
Bren

Stop start query
I can't remember when my car last auto stopped. I understand that it won't do it in really cold weather, but today I have done 100 plus miles (many on just sidelights and with the climate control off in case the battery needed a boost) and it hasn't auto stopped once.
Any one help?

foot brake
I am a new to volvo and just bought a 2003 xc90 4.2 diesel all good apart from 1 minor thing, the foot / parking brake does not work. The foot brake ratchets down all the way to bottom but when i was parked on an incline the car rolled, is there an easy fix ? or is this an expensive problem. the brakes have not long been replaced so i can rule this out. Help if possible

Engine: TDI: - Lamba light
Hey all,
I have a wee issue with my lamba light staying on at present, I know the lamba system on the TDI is a pretty pointless excersise but it just that orange glow thats annoying. (I'm taking bulb out if no-one can enlighten me).
Wondering if there is an underlying problem or something.
It has in the past flashed up when you fail to start the car 1st time, but goes out after a mile or two once running.
But this time its stuck on?
Advice please.
Cheers

Tinted Windows
Unreal!!!
Added tinted windows to boot space windows earlier this year and told insurer and they said OK but charged usual admin fee to log it. Only did sides as want rear clear and never bothered with rear doors as it's mainly to protect the dog from heat. Not a dark tint, maybe 35%.
Got renewal quote and it's down (great) but excess up by £200!!!! Called and asked why, all down to the tinting! What kind of logic applies to that???? Needles to say it's coming off this weekend and I have asked for a revised quote. I have the removable shades so am ok in my case. Read the small print.....
