Ok,
I'm following on from my earlier thread on this LPG install, as I think this is now a new set of problems :
http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=189559
I returned to Wales (from Ireland) in December, taking a week off work with Dai ensuring me that the (in the link above) teething troubles would be fixed. This cost me another £250 in ferry tickets, and £40 in fuel each way to Dublin Port and back. (Dai offered £150 towards those costs). I was reliably informed that the car would be running as it should have originally, following the conversion.
Since getting the car back, I noticed a startlingly fast LPG consumption. To cut a long story short, I got approx 75 miles on a nearly full tank.
Dai suggested to fill up the tank again, so I did. I got to approx 100 miles there on the entire 45 litre tank.
Now when I originally had the installation done back in September, I got 240 miles on a full tank. Clearly there's something very wrong when a full tank of LPG is suddenly considerably less efficient than petrol!!
I've so far spent £1200 for the install, 2 trips to Holyhead at a cost of upwards of £600, and a car I absolutely wish I'd left well alone.
Dai has since suggested we replace the engine (!).
To clarify :
1 - the car ran fine (until the 2 backfires) after the installation, and gave me 240 miles on a 45 litre full tank of LPG.
2 - It now does 100 miles on a full tank.
3 - It runs perfectly fine on petrol, so does not need a new engine to fix this
Where do I stand? What do I do here? Could another LPG Specialist resolve this?
